We've had a bunch of firsts for the Holy Grail pups the last few days. They had their first van ride to the Denver dog training facility, and first day at 'work' (while Jen and her mom and brother did a big raw dog food prep day).
Mom and pups all did great. Lyla was a bit worried about the travel, but once she was settled into a whelping pool in a big ex-pen at work, she relaxed and got busy doing what she does best - feeding and cleaning and cuddling her pups.
The pups did fine and didn't make a peep on the 2 hour commute down, or the 2 hour commute home. They're getting in some early crate practice, and car ride practice.
They're all gaining weight by leaps and bounds, and have pretty much all achieved 'Chipotle Burrito' status.
And on to the good stuff: here are a few pics from the last few days.

Proud mama and her pups.
I can't help but be struck by the similarity of Lyla's expressions in these first two pics to her late grandma, Polliwog (my all-time heartdog), years ago with a litter of her own pups. Polliwog loved pups - whether they were hers or not! She was famous for climbing into the whelping pools with other moms and helping clean and nurture puppies.
And on to more of the current pups and mama Lyla...
Full bellies = milk comas!

Patsy scaling mount Lyla, while the rest are caught in milk comas.
Lyla loves to sleep on her back, just like her other late grandma, Bella (a trait Bella seems to have passed on to all of her progeny). The pups don't mind - they still figure out how to nurse with mom in her creative sleeping positions.

Nice shot of Concorde's pretty markings!
Puppy segregation - so funny how often we catch pups clumped together according to color, with no human interference! Our human brains and eyes can't help but be tickled at these selective color patterns.
