New development this morning - Theo allowed tiny Granny Polliwog (not an actual grandma to this litter) in the whelping pool briefly.
Polliwog has always loved puppies, and was one of our best mama dogs ever when she had litters of her own. She's been watching from outside the whelping kennel patiently for days, and sniffing & enthusiastically cleaning pups when we hold them up for her, and today she got her wish - to get IN there with those babies!
In typical protective mama dog fashion, Theo was clearly on guard, but did allow some cleaning and sniffing by Polliwog before we intervened and called Polli away. Nice to see Theo relaxing this much with her first litter, less than a week after their birth.
