Yesterday was another good day for all the puppies.
Theo's pups have their sharp little needle puppy teeth breaking through! And Trinity's pups are beginning to open their eyes, right on time at the normal 2 week age (we were unsure if they'd be behind in development due to their size, but it looks like they're on track).
Theo's group are getting really fun and playful. Jen grabbed some videos of them playing and will try to get them posted soon - especially as they're changing so fast.
Trinity's pups continue to slowly grow - they're still smaller than normal, but are super strong for their tiny size! They had their first nail trim yesterday and Jen couldn't believe how strong and wiggly they were.

Time for a snack - QT, Agent 99, Foxxy (underneath), Scarlet, Dreyfus (underneath, upside down), MK Ultra, and a bit of Mata Hari.
The day isn't complete without a shot of Granny Polliwog and the brood. She and Theo take turns keeping the pups clean and playing and cuddling them - just like 'aunty' dogs in the wild.

What a way to start the day! So sweet. Curious question about Theo- in a few pictures she appears to have some brindling when the light shines on her just right though I’ve thought her to be black and white parti-colored since “meeting” her. My imagination? Also, has Polliwog met Trinity’s babes? :)
ReplyDeleteGreat question, Bridgette! Theo has some red 'break through' on one shoulder, as do some of her siblings and 1/2 siblings. But she is actually a solid black (even with her small amounts of white trim - those are areas where the color didn't close on the midline, as opposed to actual white patterning), and before this litter, we were unsure if she carried the red, or the brindle gene along with her dominant black.
DeleteWe knew Bok Choy carried red with his brindle (black is dominant to brindle, brindle is dominant to red). Well, she answered that question by producing Scarlet and Foxxy (both considered 'red' even though Foxxy is lighter fawn. That means both she and Bok Choy had to throw the recessive little 'k' gene to get the two red girls.
Delving even further into color genetic (watch me geeking out big time here): Because of the red breakthrough on Theo, we've wondered if she is actually a VERY heavily marked brindle, even though she looked black. She also cleared that question up by producing QT & 99 - both fully black pups, and without her being black (dominant gene), we would have had only brindle and red puppies in the litter.

DeleteNot familiar with the FB groups you mentioned (I'm on a self-imposed FB break, lol), but will look them up. I do follow puppy culture and have some new 'props' on order for these guys that I'm excited about. :)
DeleteWell, that was interesting! Dove further into the next link, too! Was thinking of our German Shorthair Pointer who was white with liver ticking and patched. So cool how it all seems so random and isn't random at all! And, there was a picture of Polliwog as a younger dog so that was a bonus! Haha! And, the mention of Alfredo makes it relevant! :)
